Visiting the Chicago Cambodian community? Here's a list of destinations. They could all be found on the map below.
1) Cambodian Association of Illinois and the Cambodian American Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial
* Weekends are open for the summer because of cultural programs. I recommend you call in advance if you want to visit. The glass memorial will make this an unforgettable visit. Call: 773-878-7090
2) Temples
* The temples are located in the Uptown community. I prefer the old temple on Argyle because it has a garden and a richer history.
3) Shopping
* "A-guy," as the Cambodians would call it, is the place to buy goods. It spands several blocks and consists of Chinese-Vietnamese restaurants and markets. You will also notice a significant number of jewelry shops owned by Chinese-Cambodians.
* The main restaurants are Tank Noodles and Furama. They are not only big but have great food. Try Sun Wah or Hong Kee if you want Chinese ducks or Double Happiness for noodles.
* Getting grocery? Check out Mien Hoa.
